Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
The UCLA Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine (CBAM) advances the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with health disparities. Our research efforts include clinical trials of anti-addiction medications and HIV prevention interventions. The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for clinical duties that include, but are not limited to: completing informed consents, obtaining medical and psychiatric histories, performing physical exams, interpretation of lab tests and EKGs in collaboration with study physicians, ordering and dispensing of study medication, monitoring and assessment of adherence and adverse events, and providing patients with test results and referrals. The PA or NP may also share after-hours and weekend telephone call duties on a rotating basis with the Physician. Administrative duties will include maintaining medication accountability records and management of clinical quality assurance procedures. This position will work closely with the Project Director and Physician to ensure that study activities are carried out according to the protocol and standard operating procedures for research. In addition, this position will administer study measures and enter data, participate in quality assurance reviews, and participate in regular, internal study meetings, as well at network-led meetings and trainings.
